Beer fermenters are also called CCT’s (Cylindrical Conical Tanks), FV’s (Fermentation Vessel), primary fermentor or unitanks as they are used both for fermenting and lagering.Fermenting is the process during which the yeast transforms the wort into beer. Lagerings takes place after fermenting and is the time given to the beer to stabilize and age after fermenting.
Most micro breweries today use cylindro-conical vessels, or CCVs, which have a conical bottom and a cylindrical top. The cone aperture is typically around 60°, an angle that will allow the yeast to flow towards the cone's apex, but is not so steep as to take up too much vertical space. CCVs can handle both fermenting and conditioning in the same tank. At the end of fermentation, the yeast and other solids which have fallen to the cone's apex can be simply flushed out of a port at apex.
The conical fermentation tanks have a dished top with cylindrical body. The 60 degree conical bottom is ideal for fermenting and improving the quality of beer as well as breeding yeast. All the tanks are food grade stainless steel 304 with a 3mm thickness for 100l-5000l, but larger tank is 4mm thickness. The cooling system is a dimple jacket with insulated polyuranthane filling.
